Sunset Family Session [Verona Park, NJ]

Amy is probably my ideal client. She understands that no family is perfect. She wasn’t looking for perfection when booking her sunset family session. She wanted real. She knows her kids and didn’t have crazy expectations about what her family portraits should look like. For me, this is super important when it comes to family sessions. I laughed when I told her my welcome guide should include a section about lowering your expectations. Kids are kids. Their moods change on a whim. Their clothes will get dirty. They will not sit still. And I don’t want them to. What fun is that? If you want a stiff portrait of your child sitting down smiling, you’re better off at a mall studio.

We met at Verona Park and just hung out. I laid out a blanket and talked to Ezra about his toys. I made silly faces for Evelyn. We walked around. We jumped. We ran. We tickled. I even got to snap some images of Amy nursing Evelyn. It was easy and and that’s what I want every session to fee like.

Here are a few sneak peeks from their session.
