You left us 9 years ago today. No warning. One minute you were here and the next you weren’t.
As time goes on, I’m more and more thankful for the photos I have of you and the girls. I feel so lucky that they had as much time with you as they did. They knew you as grandpa. Always willing to crawl on the floor, carry them on your shoulders, and be silly. The best parts of you came alive when you were with your grandkids.
I can see it in the photos. And they can too. They don’t have the memories that I do because they were small, but they can see you smiling and loving life as grandpa.
Photos are amazing and have the power to transport you back in time, but they only have that power if you let them live and breathe in your everyday life – on your walls and in albums. With digital cameras and smartphones we can take as many photos as we want and end up with hundreds, if not thousands of photos, held captive on hard drives.
It’s so easy to print family photos these days you have no more excuses. One of my favorite things to do is create a Chatbook. I have my Facebook and Instagram accounts linked to Chatbooks and it will auto populate all of my images. I can pick and choose which images I want included and even include captions from Instagram. Sometimes it’s nice to have the story to go along with the photo.
Another company I love for printing is Artifact Uprising. I love their everyday print set and have been working on ordering photos from 2019 to add to a photo wall in my house. Just loose prints tacked up on the wall for my family to enjoy. I can’t wait to share the finished product.
Whatever company you choose, make time to get those beloved memories off your phone and in to the hands of your family and children. Kids love looking at albums and framed photos of themselves. They love to see mom and dad in those photos too!
