My Top 5 Photography Resources

Do you want to learn about photography, but don’t know where to start? Today, I’m sharing 5 of my favorite photography resources online. These are all places I go to for inspiration and education.

My Top 5 Photography Resources

Clickinmoms Breakouts – These are chock full of info. Lessons are taught by pro photographers on a variety of subjects ranging from light to processing and working with children. Each breakout includes a PDF and extras like editing videos or behind the scenes of a shoot. One of my all-time favorite breakouts is from Shalonda Chaddock of Chubby Cheek Photography. Her breakout includes a PDF that gives you tons of tips and inspiration for capturing the magic of childhood, but the best part is the video of her working. Being able to watch a photographer work and interact with their subject is so helpful to me. In order to purchase a breakout, you need to be a member at Clickinmoms. Membership is only $10 a month!

Creative Live – Another awesome resource for any creative individuals. Classes are free when you watch live and then they can be purchased. I’ve watched countless classes on everything from newborn posing to editorial photography. Creative Live offers great classes for beginners so check out their schedule. Even though I’m not particularly crafty, I totally want to take this class!

Blogs – Some people say blogging is dead, but I still love reading blogs. During my live class on Tuesday, I talked about one of the first blogs I found while learning about photography. It was the Pioneer Woman. Yes! I know she has a cooking show now, but back in the day, she had great photography tutorials on her blog! There are so many others too. I mentioned Clickinmoms above, but there is also Light Inspired, Beyond the Wanderlust , and Digital Photography School.

You Tube – There are thousands and thousands of photography tutorials on You Tube so it’s really easy to get overwhelmed, but here are two I like. Phlearn offers a lot of advanced videos, but they have a section called Getting Started that has more basic tutorials. Also check out Creative Photography Courses for some good videos on posing, lighting and even white balance tricks.

Click & Capture Your EverydayClick & Capture is a 6 week online course by yours truly. Lessons include how to find good light in your home, how to shoot in full sun, how to get that dreamy, background blur, how you can get genuine smiles from your kids and so much more!
