Home Sweet Home Family Session – Morristown NJ Photographer

This home sweet home family session was so much fun!! I think all family sessions should involve baking from now on, don’t you? On this day, the menu featured peanut butter brownies. When I first arrived, Kelly was feeling shy so I kept my camera in the bag and chatted for a few minutes. I like to take my time with shy kids and give them a chance to warm up so I usually ask a lot of questions. Things like “Can you show me your playroom?” “What’s your favorite toy?” “Do you like to sing?” And finally, I asked him if he had a favorite book and that’s what hooked him. He came down from his daddy’s arms and ran over to the playroom to grab a book about trucks.

Now that he was feeling more comfortable we were able to get him into the kitchen to help mom and dad bake. Sessions like these are so special to me because we’re capturing a memory that is unique to this family. On weekends, they pretend they are doing a cooking show and Kelly helps his mom measure and stir. I love that when they look back on these images years from now, they’ll be able to tell stories about their adventures.
