In Home Newborn Session [Newborn Photographer Harding NJ]

Having an in home newborn session can be so much fun! Kids are often more comfortable in their own surroundings and when they need a break, they can just hop over to the kitchen for a snack. It’s been challenging for me to to find the light in client’s homes, but it’s also been rewarding. I love incorporating shadows more and really using what’s available to make each session unique. Here’s a recent session with two siblings. The shots you see on the rug were done in the kitchen by sliding glass doors. I just asked the little ones to lay down. I love this pose because the kids aren’t responsible for holding the baby. I get them all set and then just lay the baby down in between them.

The next series of images on the couch are so adorable. I moved the couch closer to the window in another room and made sure the kids sat close to the light. It also helps to have them right up against the arm of the couch (or chair) so that the baby’s head is supported.

And finally, we went back to the kitchen for the final series of the baby in a crate. I used the same rug and then just incorporated a few headbands and wraps for variety. This baby was super sleepy and only woke during the end of the session when she was ready to eat. If she had been awake, I would have attempted the same shots as long as she was happy and calm.
