5 Baby Essentials Every New Mom Recommends

In case you haven’t checked out my About page, this is baby #3 for me. But there hasn’t been a baby in the house in a LONG time. My oldest is 14 and my soon-to-be middle child is 10. Long gone are the days of diapers and sippy cups.

Only 2 months to go until this new baby arrives though and I’m kind of excited to start seeing baby things around the house again. Soooo much has changed in the last 10 years. I had no clue what’s out there and what I’d need so I asked clients and other new moms to share their absolute essentials. I got a ton of great ideas, but there were definitely a few that kept coming up. Here’s what I’m excited to use once baby girl arrives.

5 baby essentials every new mom recommends. www.stacymaeandco.com

1. Snuggle Me Organic

Originally I was going to go with the Dock-A-Tot, but after seeing a few bloggers rave about Snuggle Me Organic, I changed my mind. I love the idea that it has a center sling so that once you lay the baby down it pulls in at the sides to hug the baby and make them feel safe and secure. And I can bring it from room to room or when we go to grandma’s house!

2. Rock and Play

This was by far the most recommended item. I am expecting this thing to be a miracle worker based on all the glowing reviews. Can’t wait to watch baby snooze in here.

3. Swaddle Blankets

The swaddles I had when my girls were little were never big enough. You couldn’t never get a good wrap. Swaddle blankets are so much prettier now too. I bought a bunch with lots of cute photos in mind.

4. Baby Shusher

This is actually something I found out about after watching an online video of a newborn photographer posing a baby. I thought it was someone shushing in the background, but it was this tiny little orange gadget. Freaking genius! I can totally remember the early days rocking the girls shushing them to sleep. And someone realized how amazing it would be to record that sound and  give us mamas a break every now and then. Plus, it’s portable so you can stick it in your diaper bag and bring it on vacation or in the car.

5. Solly Baby Wrap

I never used a wrap with my older two. I don’t even think babywearing was a thing 10 years ago, but I do remember carrying them on my hip which is probably why my back is completely out of whack! I’m looking forward to giving the Solly Wrap a try. Hopefully I can figure out how to use it!

So tell me, are you a new mom? What are some of your must-haves for baby? Have you used any of the items listed here? Love ’em or leave ’em? Tell me in the comments!

The rock n play is a must have! Our daughter slept in that alone for the first 3 months. Aden and Anais swaddle blankets are the softest and best. Make sure you get the extra large ones. We still use them in the car and stroller 2 years later. What an exciting time! Enjoy!
