With the start of the long 4th of July weekend finally upon us, I thought it would be fun to list my top 5 can’t miss summer photos.
1. The pool. Chances are you’ll spend a lot of time here hiding from the hot summer rays. Don’t forget to snap a few shots of your children splashing around or just lounging by the water’s edge. Just be careful not to get your camera wet!
2. The beach. Hopefully you’re lucky enough to be able to escape to the beach at least once this summer. You might want to opt for your camera phone in this case to avoid getting any sand in your big camera. Either way, make sure you grab a few shots of your littles playing in the sand.
3. The boardwalk. This is one of my favorite places to take pictures in the summer. Tons of color and texture. You don’t always need your big camera to get good shots either. Just be creative with your framing and composition. These are both iPhone shots.
4. Summer Sweets. There are lots of strictly summer sweets that make for bright, colorful shots – ice pops, strawberries, watermelon, cotton candy, lemonade, etc. One of our favorite activities during the summer is going for ice cream … like every night. So the next time your kids are enjoying a colorful snack, grab the camera. This ice cream cone did have sprinkles on it! Lol! I love the face she makes when she’s eating ice cream.
5. Vacation details. Don’t just go for the typical tourist shots. Capture the details of where you are. Food, your hotel room, the airplane ride, street signs, etc.
I’m just realizing that the last few images were iPhone only so I really need to get better about bringing my big camera out more often. Still, as long as you are taking pictures and capturing the memories of summer, it really doesn’t matter which camera you use. Have fun!!
